Black Myth: Wukong
Low-end PC guide: FPS boost, lag and stutter fix

Black Myth: Wukong config file
Free. The download link appears after a short wait.
- Put it in
%LOCALAPPDATA%\b1\ Saved\ Config\ Windows - Engine
- Unreal Engine 5
This guide gives you a free config file and the in-game settings to make Black Myth: Wukong run better on a low-end PC. The game runs on Unreal Engine 5, and its minimum specs start at a GTX 1060 or an RX 580, so older PCs need help. Follow the steps in order.
Can you run Black Myth: Wukong on a low end PC?
These are the minimum specs:
- CPU: Intel Core i5-8400 or AMD Ryzen 5 1600
- GPU: Nvidia GeForce GTX 1060 or AMD Radeon RX 580
- RAM: 16 GB
- VRAM: 6 GB on Nvidia, 8 GB on AMD
- Storage: 130 GB
If your PC is below these specs, expect low frame rates and stutter even on the Low preset. The config file and settings below help, but they can’t replace missing GPU power.
Best Black Myth: Wukong settings for low end PCs
- Use the Low preset as your starting point. Then change the options below.
- Upscaler: FSR or XeSS work on any GPU, so pick one of them if you have an older card. DLSS needs an Nvidia RTX card.
- Ray tracing: Turn it off. The game’s ray tracing is full path tracing, which is a heavy option for older GPUs.
- Frame rate cap: Set it to 60 FPS, or 30 FPS if your PC can’t hold 60.
- V-Sync: Turn it off.
- Window mode: Choose borderless windowed.
Set these in the game first. Then install the config file below.
Black Myth: Wukong Engine.ini location and install
- Download the config with the button above the article and extract the zip.
- Close Black Myth: Wukong if it’s running.
- Press Windows + R, paste
%LOCALAPPDATA%\b1\Saved\Config\Windows, and press Enter. If the folder doesn’t exist, start the game once, let it reach the main menu, close it, and try again. - If an
Engine.iniis already in the folder, rename it toEngine.ini.bak. That keeps a backup. - Copy the
Engine.inifrom the zip into the folder. - Start the game.
What the config changes
- Post-processing: Motion blur, depth of field, chromatic aberration, lens flares, light shafts and film grain are turned off. Sharpening is set to 0.6.
- Lighting and reflections: Ambient occlusion, screen space reflections, subsurface scattering, contact shadows and capsule shadows are turned off. Volumetric fog uses a 16-pixel grid with 64 depth slices.
- Shadows: Shadow quality is set to 2, and shadow maps are capped at 1024 pixels. Shadows reach a shorter distance, and very small objects drop out of shadows sooner.
- Draw distance and foliage: View distance is set to 0.8 times the default. Detail mode is lowered, texture filtering is capped at 4x, and grass and foliage density is set to 0.6.
- Lumen, Nanite and shadow maps (UE5): Lumen reflections and Lumen mesh tracing are turned off. Nanite detail is lowered, and virtual shadow maps use a lower resolution.
Streaming settings turn on asynchronous loading and turn off some forced garbage collection, so moving between areas causes fewer hitches.
How to fix Black Myth: Wukong stuttering and FPS drops
- The first launch compiles shaders. Let it finish, and expect hitches for the first few minutes.
- Install the game on an SSD if you can.
- Close background apps, such as browsers and launcher overlays.
- Update your GPU driver from the official page: Nvidia or AMD.
- Plug in your laptop, and set the power mode to best performance.
Undo the changes
Delete Engine.ini from the folder. If you made a backup, rename Engine.ini.bak back to Engine.ini instead. The game rebuilds its defaults the next time you start it.
Black Myth: Wukong FAQ
Where is the Black Myth: Wukong Engine.ini file?
It is in %LOCALAPPDATA%\b1\Saved\Config\Windows. Press Windows + R, paste that path and press Enter. If the folder is missing, start the game once, reach the main menu, close it and try again.
Can you run Black Myth: Wukong on a low end PC?
Yes, if your PC meets the minimum specs: a GTX 1060 or RX 580 with 16 GB of RAM. Below those, expect low frame rates and stutter even on the Low preset. The config file and settings in this guide help, but they can't replace missing GPU power.
Which upscaler should I use on an older GPU?
Use FSR or XeSS on an older card, since both work on any GPU. DLSS needs an Nvidia RTX card. Also turn ray tracing off, because the game's full path tracing is heavy on older GPUs.
How do I fix Black Myth: Wukong stuttering?
Let the first launch finish compiling shaders, and expect hitches for the first few minutes. Install the game on an SSD if you can, close background apps, and update your GPU driver from the official Nvidia or AMD page.
Is it safe to undo the Black Myth: Wukong config?
Yes. Delete Engine.ini from the config folder, or rename your Engine.ini.bak backup back to Engine.ini if you made one. The game rebuilds its defaults the next time you start it.
