Palworld
Low-end PC guide: FPS boost, lag and stutter fix

Palworld config file
Free. The download link appears after a short wait.
- Put it in
%LOCALAPPDATA%\Pal\ Saved\ Config\ Windows - Engine
- Unreal Engine 5
Palworld runs on Unreal Engine 5, and its minimum spec is a GTX 1660 with 16 GB of RAM. This guide gives you a free config file, the in-game settings to change first, and fixes for stutter on a weak PC.
Can you run Palworld on a low end PC?
- CPU: Intel Core i5-9400F
- GPU: Nvidia GeForce GTX 1660
- RAM: 16 GB
- Storage: 40 GB
- OS: Windows 10
- DirectX: 11
If your PC is below these specs, the game may run poorly even with this config. The config lowers the work your GPU has to do, but it can’t make up for missing hardware.
Best Palworld settings for low end PCs
- Use the Low preset first, then change the items below.
- Upscaling: Pick DLSS if you have an Nvidia RTX card. Otherwise pick TSR.
- Ray tracing: If the option is there, turn it off. The game only offers software Lumen ray tracing.
- Frame rate cap: Set it to 60, or 30 if your PC can’t hold 60.
- V-Sync: Turn it off. It can hold your frame rate to the monitor’s refresh rate and add input lag.
- Anti-aliasing: Pick FXAA. TAA is the heavier option.
- Window mode: Pick borderless windowed if you switch between apps often.
Palworld Engine.ini location and install
- Download the zip with the button above. Unzip it and find the
Engine.inifile. - Close Palworld completely, including any launcher that is still running.
- Press Windows + R, paste
%LOCALAPPDATA%\Pal\Saved\Config\Windowsand press Enter. If the folder doesn’t exist, start Palworld once, close it, and try again. - If the folder already has an
Engine.ini, rename it toEngine.ini.bak. This is your backup. - Copy the new
Engine.iniinto the folder. - Start the game.
If you play the Game Pass or Xbox app version, use %LOCALAPPDATA%\Pal\Saved\Config\WinGDK instead.

How to fix Palworld stuttering and FPS drops
Palworld is an Unreal Engine 5 game, so the first launch compiles shaders. Let that finish, and expect hitches for the first few minutes.
If you can, install the game on an SSD. It needs 40 GB of free storage.
Then work through the basics on Windows:
- Close background apps, such as browsers and overlays from launchers.
- Update your GPU driver from the official site: Nvidia, AMD or Intel.
- On a laptop, plug in the power cable and set the power mode to best performance.
Undo the changes
Delete Engine.ini from the folder. If you made a backup, rename Engine.ini.bak back to Engine.ini instead. The game rebuilds its defaults.
Palworld FAQ
Where is the Palworld Engine.ini file?
The Steam version keeps it in %LOCALAPPDATA%\Pal\Saved\Config\Windows. The Game Pass and Xbox app version uses the WinGDK folder next to it. Press Windows + R, paste the path and press Enter.
Can Palworld run on a low end PC?
Palworld's minimum spec is an Nvidia GeForce GTX 1660 with 16 GB of RAM, so a PC below that may run it poorly even with the Engine.ini config. The config lowers GPU work but can't replace missing hardware.
How do I fix Palworld stuttering and FPS drops?
Let the first launch finish, since Unreal Engine 5 compiles shaders and causes hitches for the first few minutes. Install the game on an SSD if you can. Close background apps, update your GPU driver and use the best performance power mode on a laptop.
Which upscaler should I use on an older GPU in Palworld?
Pick TSR if your GPU isn't an Nvidia RTX card, because DLSS needs one. Palworld offers DLSS 3.1.30 and TSR, so TSR is the choice for older GPUs.
Is it safe to undo the Palworld Engine.ini changes?
Yes. Delete the Engine.ini file from the config folder, or rename your backup back to Engine.ini. The file itself says that deleting it returns the game to its defaults.
