Satisfactory
Low-end PC guide: FPS boost, lag and stutter fix

Satisfactory config file
Free. The download link appears after a short wait.
- Put it in
%LOCALAPPDATA%\FactoryGame\ Saved\ Config\ Windows - Engine
- Unreal Engine 5
Satisfactory is a factory building game made with Unreal Engine 5. Its minimum specs call for a GTX 1050 Ti or RX 570 class graphics card. This guide gives you a config file that cuts the heaviest graphics work, plus the in-game settings to change and fixes for stutter.
Can you run Satisfactory on a low end PC?
- CPU: Intel Core i5-3570, 3.4 GHz, 4 cores
- GPU: Nvidia GeForce GTX 1650 or GTX 1050 Ti, or AMD Radeon RX 470 or RX 570
- RAM: 8 GB
- Storage: 20 GB
If your PC is below these, the config and settings below will help, but they can’t make a much weaker graphics card run the game smoothly. Start with the upscaling and render percentage settings.
Best Satisfactory settings for low end PCs
- Use the Low preset as your starting point. Then change the settings below.
- Upscaling: FSR 3.1 or XeSS 1.3 work on any GPU. DLSS 3.7 needs an Nvidia RTX card. TSR is also available.
- Render percentage: Lower it to draw the game at a lower resolution. The image gets softer, and the game runs lighter.
- Ray tracing: If you see Global Illumination, turn it off. It’s the only ray tracing option in this game.
- Frame generation: Leave DLSS FG and FSR FG off. They need a good base frame rate to work well.
- Frame rate cap: Set it to 60. If your PC can’t hold 60 most of the time, set it to 30.
- V-Sync: Turn it off. A frame cap keeps the frame rate steady instead.
- Antialiasing: FXAA is the lightest option. TAA and FSRAA cost more.
- Window mode: Use borderless windowed or fullscreen.
Satisfactory Engine.ini location and install
- Click the download button above and save the zip file. Unzip it. You get a file called
Engine.ini. - Close Satisfactory completely.
- Press Windows + R. Paste this path and press Enter:
%LOCALAPPDATA%\FactoryGame\Saved\Config\Windows. If the folder doesn’t exist, start Satisfactory once, close it, and try again. - If the folder already has an
Engine.ini, rename it toEngine.ini.bak. This is your backup. - Copy the new
Engine.iniinto the folder. - Start Satisfactory.
What the config changes
- Post-processing: Motion blur, depth of field, lens flares, light shafts, film grain and edge color fringing are off. Sharpening is on at 0.6, so the image stays crisp.
- Lighting and reflections: Ambient occlusion, screen space reflections, subsurface scattering, contact shadows and capsule shadows are off. Volumetric fog uses a coarser grid.
- Shadows: Shadow quality is set to 2, and shadow resolution is capped at 1024. Shadow distance is reduced, and small objects stop casting shadows sooner.
- Draw distance and foliage: Objects draw at a shorter distance. Detail mode is set to a lower level, and anisotropic filtering is capped at 4x. Grass and foliage density is cut to 60%.
- UE5: Lumen, Nanite and virtual shadow maps: Lumen reflections are off, and Lumen skips tracing against mesh distance fields. Nanite detail is lowered, and virtual shadow maps use a lower resolution.
The streaming settings load areas on a separate thread and skip forced cleanup, for smoother loading and fewer hitches when you move between areas.
How to fix Satisfactory stuttering and FPS drops
- The first launch compiles shaders. Let it finish, and expect stutter for the first few minutes.
- If you can, install the game on an SSD. It needs 20 GB of storage.
- Close background apps, such as browsers and launcher overlays.
- Update your graphics driver from the official page for your GPU:
- On a laptop, plug it in and set Windows to the best performance power mode.
Known issues
- Upscaled image. The game’s internal resolution can follow Windows display scaling. At 200% scaling, it renders at 50%. Set Windows display scaling to 100%, then use the render percentage slider in the game.
Undo the changes
Open the same folder as in the install steps. Delete Engine.ini, or delete the new one and rename your backup back to Engine.ini. The game rebuilds its defaults the next time you start it.
Satisfactory FAQ
Can you run Satisfactory on a low end PC?
Yes, if your graphics card meets the minimum. The minimum GPUs are the GTX 1650, GTX 1050 Ti, RX 470 and RX 570, and the minimum RAM is 8 GB. The config file and lower settings help, but a much weaker card will still struggle with big factories.
Where is the Satisfactory Engine.ini file?
It is in %LOCALAPPDATA%\FactoryGame\Saved\Config\Windows. Press Windows + R, paste that path and press Enter. If the folder is missing, start the game once and close it, then try again.
How do I fix Satisfactory stuttering and FPS drops?
Let the first launch finish compiling shaders, and expect stutter for the first few minutes. Install the game on an SSD if you can, close background apps and update your graphics driver. The config file also cuts the heaviest graphics work.
Which upscaler should I use on an older GPU?
Use FSR 3.1 or XeSS 1.3, since both work on any GPU. DLSS 3.7 needs an Nvidia RTX card. Then lower the render percentage slider if you still need more frames.
Can you undo the Satisfactory config changes?
Yes. Delete Engine.ini from the config folder, or delete the new file and restore your Engine.ini.bak backup. The game rebuilds its defaults the next time you start it.
